Chile / United States

Collage is my preferred medium to express social critique. Rooted in mass media culture and identity politics, my work interrogates the various ways to represent the Other and emphasize the signifying role of the found image, “the already seen”, the readymade.

The aesthetics strategies of collage is the best visual equivalent of fragmentation and reconstruction, processes that I have experienced as part of forming my identity.

I was born in Conception, one of the most industrialized cities in the central-south of Chile. For over13 years I worked for nonprofit organizations engaging with and promoting advocacy among marginalized communities and women’s grassroots organizations. My passion for social justice issues led me to work in community development  in remote rural areas, experiences that influenced my work as an artist.
